Marianas Fruit Dove aka Totot faces extinction due to habitat loss throughout its range. A larger threat to the Mariana fruit dove has been the accidental introduction of the brown tree snake to Guam during World War II. The snakes decimated the native bird populations of the island, which were unaccustomed to predators. They are extinct on Guam since 1984 and the Mariana fruit dove is highly endangered on other islands in its range. The spread of the snakes to the Northern Marianas Islands could be devastating. Several zoos have started captive breeding programs. The St. Louis Zoo, in St. Louis, Missouri, has one of the most successful captive breeding programs. Why is this significant? Like the Totot, we are losing our culture, our identity, our traditions. We can make a comeback just like this beautiful Totot.
Commitment
For too long, career politicians have pledged support for public safety, healthcare, education, and infrastructure—especially during election season. But the truth is, our community still faces serious challenges. Rising costs. Underfunded schools. Crumbling roads. Families struggling to make ends meet.
GUAM DESERVES BETTER
We need leaders who don’t just talk during campaign season—we need leaders who act, who listen, and who care deeply about the people they serve. This election is about choosing candidates who are rooted in our community, not just in politics.
As a veteran, I have served my country in uniform and now will serve my island in office.
My military service has instilled in me a deep understanding of the importance of discipline, sacrifice, and unity. I have witnessed leadership under pressure and have learned that true strength lies not in rank but in responsibility.
As a senator, I will carry these lessons into every decision I make. I will advocate for our families with the same fervor I brought to the battlefield. I honor our elders, protect our youth, and stand firm for those who feel unheard.
Guam requires leaders who embody the spirit of service. They comprehend the chain of command but also recognize the power of community. They believe that loyalty extends beyond a flag to the people beneath it.
I am honored to be a veteran and even more proud to serve Guam—not with weapons, but with wisdom. Not with orders, but with action. Not with uniformity, but with unity.
